Cellulite On Front Of Thighs May Not Mean Being Fat
The word "cellulite" causes many women to gasp and make rather ugly faces, because absolutely no one seems to like the bumpy irregular appearance of this kind of fat storage. Once, many dismissed talk about cellulite on front of thighs or on the abdomen or bottom as just overweight and nothing more, but now it is believed that there are structural differences that create cellulite. If a person has cellulite on front of thighs or elsewhere, what they and everyone else will see is skin with tiny dimples, thousands of them, which look like the surface of citrus fruits. These tiny lumps and bumps are anything but attractive, and if the person is overweight, they emphasize that problem and seem to magnify fat areas. So called cellulite exercises are geared to weight loss and have limited effect in changing the appearance
Some studies seem to indicate that women store fat in a different structure of tissue than men and this is why they seem to show more skin affected with cellulite. Hormones are also known to be a factor in its formation, and the aging process also seems to be an issue. To the surprise of many people, obesity is not the only cause, since people with perfectly normal weights may be horrified to see cellulite on front of thighs or tummy every time they look down.
Skin has three layers, one being the epidermis which is the part we actually see. But how smooth or bumpy it is depends on the deeper parts, which are the layer just beneath, the dermis, and the subcutaneous layer, which is the problem zone for cellulite. Excess body fat is stored beneath this layer, and can be removed with weight loss and liposuctions, but the cellulite is from fat trapped in this third from the top layer.
The best cellulite treatment must attack the problem where it exists in the skin. There are several approaches to doing this, but of course a healthy diet, exercise and general health do make a difference, although diet and exercise alone are not cures. One method attacks cellulite by using injected enzymes to break it up and let the body clear it away. It can have good results but is uncomfortable and can be a very expensive choice.
Another effective cellulite treatment is the use of mechanical devices that do deep tissue massage to literally break up the cells that trap fat in the "sub-Q" layer that cause the ugly pitting that we call cellulite. Massage by hand is usually not enough to produce this effect, so this requires clinical treatment which does cause expense, but is not surgery or even as invasive as injections. Other cellulite treatments include cellulite body wraps, herbal and other preparations either taken by mouth or applied to the skin, and combinations of several methods. Consulting with a cosmetic surgeon or dermatologist who specializes in the area of cosmetics may be the way to choose what is best for you.
